Uno's unique release was only the in-between step of the Osanna's evolution. During the recording sessions of Landscapes of Life it was quite evident that the bands' members had so different opinions on what it should be their music in the future and on their political visions itselves! So Elio D'Anna and Enzo Vallicelli decided undergo together their separate way joined by Danilo Rustici from other classic band from Neaples, Cervello. Later, the band changed the name into Nova and the prog tendencies rapidly decreased.

Italian music press of that period was very curious and interested in this new 1974 project and the Fonit boss decided to send the neo-formed Uno in London at the Trident Studios, the same where Pink Floyd registered their magnum opus Darck Side of the Moon. And this is not the only tie with the famous space-rock band. Vocalist Liza Strike also appears in the closer track of this album and the Hypgnosis studio created the cover of the album english version (completely sung in english).

Similarities stop here. There is no comparisong that can be found in music or in melodies. Uno continue exactly where Osanna left and, in my opinion, this is not a lack! Acoustic guitars, flutes and saxophones all drenched with moog and pianos. The track- format, as in the Landscape of Life album has a more concise and short structure but it holds high level of prog hidden, as a jewel, in almost every track.

Lyrics are half sung in english half in italian. Generally the italian ones are the most proggy track. Just listen for example to I Cani e la Volpe (Dogs and Fox, 4,01 mns): moog and distorted sax paint together a quasi-spacey interlude. Uno nel Tutto (One in All, is the longest track about 10,11 mns) is a very complex track with distorted vocals and strong and eclectic saxophone. Fiery electric guitar. After all, Osanna's spirit was not dead!

Another interesting track is the second titled "Popular Girl". This is a strange song, at least for the firs half 'cause is structure as a pure rock'n'roll old classic. But after the two minutes, drums start the fights! It reminds me of some interludes of Jethro Tull. Very good!

What I could say? Despite the critics and bad comments, I feel this album is made of excellent prog music. At least for half of its running time. The rest, is a good soft- melodic-prog with some a commercial tendency. It never loose its artistic form, though. I admit I enjoy very much to listen to it. [progarchives.com]

Little Sonny (born Aaron Willis, October 6, 1932, Greensboro, Alabama) is an American electric blues harmonica player, singer and songwriter. His early mentor and inspiration was Sonny Boy Williamson II. Nevertheless, Little Sonny stated that his nickname originated with his mother. "[She] called me 'Sonny boy' from the time I can remember." He has released eight albums, including a trio on a subsidiary of Stax Records. His 1973 release, Hard Goin' Up, reached the Top 50 in the US Billboard R&B chart.

He was born in 1932 and raised solely by his mother. His early interest lay in baseball, before he relocated to Detroit in 1953. At first he had no real interest in music until, as he explained, "But then I saw Sonny Boy Williamson II." Willis was "spellbound at the way he played. After the show I went home and practiced for hours. Every day after that I would practice until I got the sound I wanted." His daytime job was working in a used car lot.

His first professional appearance was at the Good Times Bar in Detroit, playing in Washboard Willie's backing group. He put together his first band in March 1956. For the following fifteen years Little Sonny performed in numerous Detroit clubs, often boosting his earnings by photographing customers between his on-stage appearances. He ofttimes performed alongside John Lee Hooker, Eddie Kirkland and Baby Boy Warren. Another club stalwart Eddie "Guitar" Burns provided accompaniment to Little Sonny on his debut single, "I Gotta Find My Baby" (1958), which was released by Duke Records. It was co-written with Little Sonny's wife, Maggie. His follow-up release, "Love Shock" appeared on Excello label. He received $25 for the latter track, before setting up his own label (Speedway Records) and selling sufficient copies of his next effort, "The Mix Up", to write off his production costs.

Home recording his own tracks, in 1966 he leased "The Creeper" and "Latin Soul" to Revilot Records. A later track, "Sonny’s Bag," became his first Top 20 hit in Detroit. By late 1969, Little Sonny finally recorded his debut album, the predominately instrumental, New King of Blues Harmonica, which he cut in less than six hours. It was released on Enterprise, a subsidiary of Stax Records. Despite their reputation for soul music productions, Little Sonny released three albums with them in the early 1970s. He also briefly appeared in their concert film, Wattstax.

Black & Blue (1972) and 1973's Hard Goin' Up followed, with Little Sonny using an Old Standby 34B harmonica. A lean period ensued before the British label Sequel Records issued Sonny Side Up in 1995. His accompanists included keyboard player Rudy Robinson, and Little Sonny's guitarist son Aaron Willis, Jr., who had both played on Hard Goin' Up over twenty years previously.

Little Sonny appeared at Black Hills State University on June 24, 2000.

His photograph collection, housed in the basement of his Detroit home, includes shots of John Lee Hooker, Eddie "Guitar" Burns, Eddie Kirkland, Joe Hunter, Eddie Willis, Bobby Bland, Washboard Willie, and Sonny Boy Williamson II. Little Sonny performed on October 4, 2008, at the Motor City Blues & Boogie Woogie Festival, in Detroit, with Eddie "Guitar" Burns, Otis Clay and Bobby Rush.

He is not to be confused with Little Sonny Warner, Little Sonny Jones, or Little
Sonny Parker.

Paul Korda - Passing Stranger (Great Folkrock UK 1971)

British singer/songwriter Paul Korda was practically born into the music scene -- his father, Tibor Kunstler, was a classically trained violinist and singer, trained in Budapest and at La Scala, who subsequently switched to saxophone and played with Coleman Hawkins on a tour by the latter of Eastern Europe; his mother was a singer who'd worked on stage and in movies, as well as with bands led by the likes of Stephan Grapelli and Joe Loss; and two of his aunts and his maternal grandmother, Florence Wright Lenner, were well-known singers as well. Korda himself fell into the folk revival scene in London's Soho, crossing paths in the mid-'60s with such future luminaries as Sandy Denny, Al Stewart, Cat Stevens, Noel Redding, and Reg Dwight (aka Elton John), while also studying photography. He organized a folk club at Harrow Technical College, but he also listened to a fair amount of rock & roll -- and it was through his friendship with Noel Redding that he chanced to meet Jimi Hendrix and gave away his own opening night at Mayfair's 7½ Club to the American guitarist, at the outset of the latter's career.

He cut a single of his own during the 1960s, "Come on Home," for EMI's Columbia Records imprint, and was signed as a songwriter to Andrew Loog Oldham's Immediate Music publishing company, where he wrote "The Time Has Come" for P.P. Arnold, which became a hit in England. Korda moved between two career paths, as a producer at EMI and a musician and recording artist in his own right, for much of the late '60s, even as he squeezed in a stint in the original London cast of Hair (in which he sang "Electric Blues"), alongside future British pop star Marsha Hunt. Korda was a man of many parts during this period -- though working in theater and playing rock music, he retained his mid-'60s folkie's orientation about social issues, and became a prominent protest singer, stepping out in front on subjects such as the treatment of England's pension recipients. He was sufficiently well-connected musically so that when he cut his first album, Passing Stranger, in 1971, he was backed up by the likes of Chris Spedding and Madeline Bell. Unfortunately, the album was pulled soon after release due to a claim (unfounded as it turned out) that Immediate still had him under contract. It ultimately took Korda three years to win his fight with Immediate Records.

By the time he was free to record on his own, music had moved on well past the 1960s, and Korda might well have found himself forgotten. Luckily, he was approached by Roger Daltrey of the Who, who was about to record his first solo album. Daltrey was also one of the members of the Who who was not self-sufficient in the songwriting department, and Korda ultimately placed three songs on Daltrey's Ride a Rock Horse album, which made the Top 20 on both sides of the Atlantic. He also resumed performing with an odd gig at New York's The Other End, where he did exceptionally well in a week-long engagement with Daryl Pettiford after a chance review in Variety.

He subsequently relocated to Los Angeles and restarted his recording career on the Janus label, and enjoyed a huge broadcast hit with the song "Manhattan" off of his album Dancing in the Aisles. The record label went bankrupt not long after, however, and over the next few years Korda's biggest successes would come as a songwriter, and getting his work placed in various venues, including television. During the 1980s, he had a small role in the movie This Is Spinal Tap, and also worked on albums with Alan Holdsworth and Jack Bruce. He has since resumed his commitment to dealing with social issues, this time in the context of urban America, and also continued writing songs, as well as one musical, Coming To, which addresses aspects of psychic life in the post-9/11 world. And he has continued to dabble in acting, portraying the Governor's dignitary in the movie Pirates of the Caribbean
